Maiden win for LIGHT ANGEL at Newbury

LIGHT ANGEL had cut a fine figur at his first time out two weeks ago already when he finished strong beaten only by a neck to second place. Today, the second outing of his young career should see him break his maiden with little to wish for at Newbury racecourse. The colt ran a gutsy race in the GBP10,300 Starlight Raceday Maiden Stakes, a 1200 m race for two-year-olds, with Robert Havlin aboard and beat the favorised Heaven Forfend (Frankel) to second place by a confident lenght and a half. LIGHT ANGEL is by Dark Angel out of the third-placed in the G3 Prix de Psyche LIGHT THE STARS (Sea The Stars), a half-sister of our Ireland-based sire LOPE DE VEGA.
