DUKE OF HAZZARD scores G3 win for sire LOPE DE VEGA

Announcers went out of their way with praise for three-year-old DUKE OF HAZZARD who proved he is a horse with tremendous potential when gutting it out in a thrilling performance in the Bonhams Stakes at Goodwood today. The colt by LOPE DE VEGA impressed in the GBP100,000 G3 challenge over the mile with a gutsy run in the deep stretch. Coming from the back of the pack, jockey Patrick McDonald found no room to put his partner to the task with horses cutting into the pair's lane from both sides. Left with no choice but to take the colt five wide, McDonald asked for more and DUKE OF HAZZARD charged home in a manner that left no questions open as to who's boss, turning a two furlong run into a win by half a length. There is no doubt more to come soon from this tough three-year-old stunner.
