AFRICAN DREAM super runner-up at Newbury

In a meeting of three-year-old fillies at Newbury over 1400m today, Gestuet Ammerland's AFRICAN DREAM finished with a strong second place behind a heavily backed winner. Coming off a win at Lingfield in March (photo), the John Gosden-trained had Kieran O'Neill aboard for a gutsy effort in her first run on turf. After a trip midfield, AFRICAN DREAM drew home gamely in final two furlongs and challenged the heavily backed favourite, though the post came a few jumps too soon for the filly and she was beaten by only a nose.
