Britannia (second - German Oaks 1988) and Luigi (winner - German Derby 1988) laid the foundation for Gestüt Ammerland's early success in thoroughbred racing. These successes were followed by many others including Borgia (winner - German Derby 1997, winner - Großer Preis von Baden 1997, winner - Hong Kong International Vase 1999, second - German Oaks 1997, second - Breeders' Cup Turf 1997, third - Prix de l'Arc de Triumphe 1997), Boreal (winner - German Derby 2001, winner - Coronation Cup 2002, third - Dubai Sheema Classic 2002), Grey Lilas (winner - Prix du Moulin de Longchamp 2004, second - Prix de l'Opera 2004, second - Poule d'Essai des Pouliches 2004), World Champion Racehorse 2005 Hurricane Run (winner - Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 2005, winner - Irish Derby 2005, winner - King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2006, winner - Tattersalls Gold Cup 2006, second - Prix du Jockey Club 2005).
